I chose BIS because I was very interested in the idea of studying two different fields.  I did not know what major I wanted to go into and I did not know what profession I wanted to go into when I was a freshman so I really liked the interdisciplinary program.  I was interested in taking communication classes in the beginning because I liked the one that I had already taken.  I also liked the idea of studying communication  because it seems like every where you turn there are communication problems and I figured that if I am a communications expert than there will always be jobs available for me.  I have always been interested in going into a profession that lets me deal with outdoor sports or areas.  That’s why I chose parks and recreation management for my second concentration.  I have a passion for the outdoors and this major encompasses a wide variety of topics that deal with the outdoors.  I like the idea of studying everything from recreation to the ins and outs of the National Parks Service.  The main reason that I chose to become a BIS major was so that I would not have to chose one narrow major and then get stuck with no options when it comes to getting a job.  I like the idea that I have studied more than one subject in college.
